Card or cash?
Cards are common in larger cities, hotels and many restaurants, but small shops, local transport and tips often run smoother with some cash in EGP. Carry a mix so you are not stuck when a terminal is offline or a vendor prefers notes.
ATM and exchange tips
Use bank-branded ATMs when you can, check for local ATM fees on screen, and avoid repeated small withdrawals if your home bank charges per transaction. When paying by card, choose to be charged in EGP when asked — dynamic currency conversion at the terminal is often more expensive.
Common travel price checks
Convert entry tickets, guided tour quotes, minibus or taxi fares, bottled water, souvenirs and hotel add-ons as you go. Typing each amount here is usually faster than running a new search for every price tag.
